Description

Functional laboratory aesthetics meet
Far Eastern tea culture:
The new Lab teapot, with its signature tactile feel and distinctive side handle, revives the origins of technical laboratory porcelain. In addition to the characteristic tactile experience of the product family—a glossy glazed top and a matte bisque base—the 0.8-liter teapot features a striking side handle that evokes the origins of technical laboratory porcelain. The minimalist, technical design of the Lab series is based on the aesthetics of Kpm laboratory porcelain from the 20th century. Chief designer Thomas Wenzel has meticulously refined it for the modern kitchen laboratory. This multifunctional line impresses with its timeless design and exceptional tactile appeal.

All pieces in the ever-expanding Lab family can be identified by the chrome-green stamp and the inscription "Kpm Berlin." This green mark was already adorning the historical laboratory porcelain. Then as now, it symbolizes design, "handmade in Berlin." The multifunctionality of the Lab family lies in the versatility and combinability of its members: minimalist plates become lids for bowls,

bowls become mugs or cups. Complemented by spice mills, mortars, containers, and progressive products like the award-winning porcelain coffee filter with thermal insulation, Lab becomes an all-rounder for breakfast, lunch,
and dinner. The Kpm Berlin brand was founded in 1751. "White gold," as porcelain is still known today, was the great passion of Frederick Ii of Prussia, who acquired the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin from the merchant Johann Ernst Gatzkowsky in 1763.

The king gave it its name and his symbol:
the cobalt blue scepter, which to this day distinguishes Kpm's exclusive pieces as originals. Until the abdication of Wilhelm Ii in 1918, the Kpm (Royal Porcelain Manufactory) in Berlin was owned by seven kings and emperors and can rightly be considered one of the most exclusive and historically significant German brands. With the end of the monarchy in 1918,

the Kpm became the State Porcelain Manufactory. After the Second World War, the manufactory fell to the State of Berlin, which changed the name back to Royal Porcelain Manufactory and sold it to Jörg Woltmann in 2006. The Berlin banker determined the realignment of the venerable company by driving its internationalization as a premium brand and continues to focus on expanding the brand to this day.
