  • Instructions for use of uncoated cast iron cookware
  • Preparing new cookware for first use
  • Cast iron is very susceptible to rust and is treated at the factory with a special food-safe mineral oil as a rust preventative measure. However, this oil only serves as corrosion protection and must be removed before first use.
  • Before first use, the cast iron cookware must be seasoned. This creates a patina on the surface, which protects the cast iron from rust and provides a non-stick effect.
  • Step 1: Remove corrosion protection
  • Soak the cookware in liquid dish soap for about 30 minutes and then rinse it thoroughly with a sponge and warm water.
  • If any manufacturing residue remains on the surface, heat the cookware with a little salt in it. Stir the salt as it cools. Once the salt has absorbed the remaining corrosion inhibitor, shake it out and let the cookware cool slowly on the stovetop. Rinse the cookware thoroughly again. Heat the cookware on the stovetop until it is completely dry. Step 2: Seasoning Cast Iron Cookware Rub the entire surface of the cookware with a cloth soaked in linseed oil. Wipe off any excess oil, leaving only a thin layer of oil on the cookware. Other unrefined vegetable oils can be used instead of linseed oil, but linseed oil yields the best results. Remove all heat-sensitive parts, such as the wooden handle, from the cookware and place it upside down in the oven at 250°C (480°F) using top and bottom heat. Let the cookware season for about an hour. Then turn off the oven and wait until the cookware cools down slowly.
  • Repeat step 2 three to six times to allow a stable patina to form on the surface.
  • Care and Usage Instructions
  • Do not leave cooked food in the cookware. This can lead to rust.
  • We recommend washing the cookware after cooking without abrasive detergents or coarse metal brushes.
  • After each washing, the cookware should be dried thoroughly. You can heat it on a stovetop for this purpose. Then apply a thin layer of oil.
  • Cast iron cookware should only be washed by hand, without using a dishwasher.
  • Store the cookware clean in a dry, well-ventilated place.
  • Rust spots may form on the surface if the cookware is not cared for properly, but this is not a problem. These can be removed as follows: Remove the rust with a metal brush, rinse the dishes with warm water, dry them and repeat the seasoning process.
