Description
  • Description
  • The quintessence of Murano glass. The pitcher from the "A Canne" collection is a reissue of a design created by the legendary designer Gio Ponti for Venini in 1946 for the 1952 Venice Biennale. Its simple yet elegant silhouette combines six glass colors—gray, red, sapphire, green, straw yellow, and amethyst—into a kaleidoscopic striped pattern, which varies slightly on each piece.
  • This striking striped decoration is created using the time-honored canne technique, for which Murano has been famous since the Middle Ages. First, the glassblowers produce the colored glass rods, which they then bundle, melt, and finally blow into their artful shapes. Each glass object produced in this way is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece with complex shapes and patterns that reflect the skill of Venini's glassblowers. The Venini glassworks stands for artistic everyday objects made of Murano glass. Exquisite designs are created with exceptional craftsmanship, captivating a global audience for over 100 years. Produced entirely by hand on the island of Murano in the Venetian Lagoon, each Venini glass object is a unique expression of Italian excellence.
