Summary
  • Layer different types of soil in the box. Expanded clay or pebbles, soil, sand, and decomposed leaves or grass (not included) are all suitable. Feel free to use different colored soil layers. This makes it particularly easy to see how the worms mix the layers later. Leaves or plant debris and perhaps some onion skins form the final top layer. Find or buy earthworms and place them in the box. Darken the observation station using the included insert panels. Earthworms are very sensitive to light and are only active in the dark.
  • To observe them in between, simply remove the blackout panels.
  • Place the worm box in a cool location.
  • After a few days, the children can observe changes:
  • Who has removed the leaves and vegetable scraps, where are the tunnels, what does the soil look like?
  • After the observation phase, carefully release the worms into nature.
  • After use, simply wipe the box with a damp cloth to prepare it for the next round.
  • Observing live animals requires care.
  • After the observations (at the latest after 2 weeks), return the worms to a safe place.
  • Colored sand is included in the set.
  • These are additional items for vivid biology lessons.
  • Understanding the cycle of nature.
  • With 2 blackout panels.
  • 1 observation box.
  • 2 Blackout panels
  • 2 packs of colored sand
  • 1 instruction manual
