Description
  • Aroma of Crete - Thyme Honey from Crete 450 g
  • Pure Cretan honey, made from thyme, flowers, and pine, packaged in a 450 g glass jar.
  • Delicately spicy in flavor and bright reddish in color.
  • Not recommended for children under one year!
  • Usage Tip:
  • A perfect spread on bread or rusks, ideal with yogurt, fruit, pancakes, or cheese, a valuable ingredient in salads or when cooking meat, and more...
  • Note on crystallization:
  • Crystallization is a sign that the honey is real, pure, and natural.
  • If the once liquid honey has solidified, simply place it in a water bath that should not exceed 40 degrees Celsius. Alternatively, a heater can also act as a decrystallizer; it just takes time. Last but not least, stirring helps, as beekeepers do at home. Finally, it should now be clear that the crystallization of the honey is more of a quality indicator of purity.
  • Aroma of Crete Honey
  • This way we can enjoy real Cretan honey, pure and healthy, just as it comes from bountiful Crete!
  • Looking back 30 years, Nikolakakis Constantinos wanted to get involved in beekeeping. At that time, beekeeping was very difficult because not all mountain villages were accessible by car, there was no necessary encyclopedic knowledge (only a few scientists were involved in beekeeping), and most beekeepers did not know the secrets of the profession. After persistent efforts, he managed to get into beekeeping in 1976 by purchasing 12 beehives. This was the beginning of Mr. Nikolakakis Beekeeping. During these years, seminars were held regularly at the Kgei of Chania, which were attended in combination with beekeeping practice, and were so advanced that a lot of knowledge about bees and honey production was available. With this knowledge, they increased the number of hives year after year. A few years later, the newest members of the family joined the bee industry. In recent years, the focus on the market (super markets) has done Cretan honey an injustice. For this reason, we have established a modern Honey Standardization Unit in the Industrial Park of Chania (Pa) to promote the healthy nutrition of Cretan honey. With this energy of honey, called 'Aroma Crete', we want to be known worldwide for its true Cretan taste and nutritional value.
  • Honey
  • Honey, the food of gods and mortals. From ancient times to honey, honey has been a special treat for everyone. During the excavations at Phaistos, pots with honey residues were found, which proves that honey was a staple food for ancient Crete. Honey provides energy and health, contains dozens of nutrients essential to the body, and is an essential part of the Mediterranean diet. These properties make it essential in our daily diet. Cretan honey is produced in the Cretan mountain region and is rich in flowers, thyme, herbs, and wildflowers.
