Description
  • Description
  • The "Old Spade" cutlery from Robbe & Berking is considered a classic. This popular cutlery style originated in the early 18th century and reached its zenith during the Biedermeier period. Characteristic of these sought-after table companions are an almost horizontal shoulder and an elongated spade. The silversmith's exceptional skill is evident in the expressive shape of the "ears" below the bowl. These spade ears require considerable craftsmanship, as they cannot be automatically machined but must be individually hand-finished. This detail is typical of Robbe & Berking, as is the elegantly faceted knife handle, which gives the "Old Spade" its distinctive character. Robbe & Berking silver-plated cutlery is always produced using high-quality 150g solid silver plating. This thick silver plating has an exceptionally long lifespan and is fully dishwasher safe.
  • The cutlery shown here is silver-plated. "Old spade" cutlery in sterling silver (925) can be found below the table.

Product Safety

Robbe & Berking cutlery is dishwasher safe. Avoid detergents containing citric acid and use dishwasher additives specifically formulated for use together. Open the dishwasher immediately after the cycle.
Important:
Before first use and after each cleaning with the silver polishing cloth and/or silver polish, the silver must be cleaned once by hand with dish soap. For hand washing, use a soft cloth or brush to avoid scratches.

Due to the natural sulfur content in the air, the silver will tarnish over time. Light tarnish can be removed with a silver glove or silver polishing cloth, more pronounced tarnish with silver polish. Avoid contact with eggs, citrus fruits,

and vinegar. Do not use silver dips or immersion baths, bleach, aluminum foil, or salt to clean the silver.
