Description

Our Dmbio vegetable broth cubes – without added sugar and without yeast - get their strong and spicy taste from carefully selected vegetables and fine herbs. Shea butter gives the vegetable broth cubes the classic consistency and the practical, easy-to-dose cube shape. They are therefore ideal for refining hot dishes and for cooking pasta, potatoes or rice. The shea butter for our Dmbio vegetable bouillon cubes comes from a project that ensures social sustainability and preserves biodiversity in the region of origin Burkina Faso (West Africa). By preserving the biodiversity of the region, desertification is to be avoided and sustainable shea butter production is to be made possible.

Shea butter production is a relevant source of income for the local women in Burkina Faso – they grow the shea trees and supervise the entire value creation process. In this way, the women involved in the project are supported in building and maintaining a sustainable income base and are supported by financial resources, medical care and school education for the children. The basis of shea butter are the so-called shea trees,

which bear fruit for over 100 years. First of all, the pulp is removed from the fruits. After that, the contained nut kernels are washed by the women, laid out to dry and then ground until a brown, viscous mass is formed.

This is stirred intensively by hand with the addition of water for up to one hour. The shea fat is then boiled up to separate the water from the fat. This is usually done jointly on the village square. The liquid shea butter is then cooled a little in large containers until the mass is just barely viscous. Then the goods are packed and shipped so that you can find and enjoy the shea butter in your local dm market.
